Crewe Lyceum was full of Jason Donovan fans on Wednesday night when the 80s pop star visited South Cheshire with his Amazing Midlife Crisis Tour, writes Claire Faulkner.

In the show, Donovan talked candidly about his life and career, his issues with addiction and the impact of losing his voice.

He chatted with the audience about his time on Neighbours and what it was like being a pop star in his early 20s.

The show was entertaining and had a positive feel good factor to it.

It was full of 80s nostalgia, especially for those of us in the audience who could remember watching Scott and Charlene getting married.

The audience had a good time and needed no encouragement to join in when he started singing “Any Dream Will Do”.

Then came some more video clips and a quick fashion show, when various stage costumes were brought out including the coat of many colours.

One audience member did shout out a request for the loin cloth costume from “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat” but this was politely and lovingly declined.

I enjoyed watching this show. It was a lot of fun.

Donovan clearly enjoys performing and looked relaxed and comfortable when singing.

Several times during the show he said, “Music is magic”. He’s right.

It can transport you back to times and places, and for a couple of hours on Wednesday night I was back in the 80s.

Remembering lost friends and how we use to learn lyrics from Smash Hits magazines, and for that I thank you Jason Donovan for a wonderful nostalgic night out.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
