A51 Bypass crash

Two children including a one-year-old boy were flown to hospital after being badly injured in an accident involving a car in Crewe.

The youngsters, an 11-year-old girl and the one-year-old boy, were walking along West Street in Crewe when the collision happened.

It involved a Kia car being driven by a 74-year-old man, who was uninjured in the incident, which happened at around 10.35am yesterday (Sunday September 30).

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision on West Street in Crewe involving a car and two young pedestrians.

“Both children were taken to Alder Hey hospital by air ambulance with injuries not thought to be life-threatening.

“Anyone who may have witnessed the collision take place is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 199138.”

No arrests have been made, police added.
