Open Doubles Final - Paul Unwin eyes the ball (1)

Winners were crowned at the Wistaston Jubilee Tennis Club (WJTC) Finals Day, writes Jonathan White.

Bill Heath (WJTC Chairman) introduced the presentation of trophies inside the Memorial Hall.

Men’s Singles Final winner was George Raiswell who beat Paul Unwin 6-4,6-1.

The Men’s Doubles Final went to Oliver Cox and Paul Unwin who beat George Raiswell and Rob Sheffield 6-7 (6), 6-3, 6-3.

Presidents Tournament Final saw Hazel Dunn and Eric James beat Margaret Maddock and Ben Reinhardt 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.

The Open Doubles Final went to Nick Green and George Raiswell who beat Paul Unwin and Ben Reinhardt 7-6 (8-6), 6-1.

All the finals were umpired by Bill Heath at Wistaston Memorial Hall & Community Centre courts on Church Lane.

In the South and Mid Cheshire Tennis League (Summer), Wistaston A came second in Division 3, so were promoted to Division 2.

Wistaston B remain in Division 4.

In the South and Mid Cheshire Tennis League (Winter/Spring), Wistaston A came second in Division 2 and Wistaston B came third in Division 3.

Wistaston A were once again captained in both Summer and Winter/Spring leagues by 17-year-old George Raiswell from Wistaston, who is a Sportscape apprentice and tennis coach.
