New Homes Bonus

Nantwich will receive around £320,000 over the next two years for new schemes as part of the Government’s New Homes Bonus.

Now award groups are being set by councillors to help decide how to spend the money.

The New Homes Bonus is awarded to Cheshire East Council based on the net increase in homes built between 2011 and 2017.

Funding is being split between the Local Highways areas, with Nantwich’s the largest area covering 31 parishes including as far afield as Worleston, Bunbury, Marbury, Wrenbury and Wybunbury.

The first £162,000 of funding will be available this year, and the area should receive a similar amount the following year.

Voluntary and community groups with a minimum £10,000 project idea could be considered under the new funding scheme.

Town and parish councils as well as Cheshire East services departments are also eligible to apply for New Homes Bonus project funds.

Cllr David Marren, Nantwich Town Council, said: “The funding could be used to pay someone for as fixed contract or to carry out a specific role or job.”

Cllr John Lewis added: “It’s not just the next two years, but projects have to consider how they will be able to continue after that in the future.”

Award groups will identify priorities for different areas, and in October and November applications for specific schemes will be invited.

The first payments could be made in January or February, 2019.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
