A motorcyclist died after a collision on the A530 Middlewich Road near Nantwich which closed the road for most of the day.

The incident happened near to the junction of Colleys Lane, close to the Alvaston Hall Hotel, yesterday (June 17) at around 11am.

Cheshire Police say the collision occurred between a red motorbike and a blue Mazda 5.

At the time of the collision, both of the vehicles were travelling towards Middlewich.

The motorcyclist, a 58-year-old man from Newcastle-Under-Lyme, died at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the car, a 47-year-old man from Tarporley, was uninjured and no arrests have been made.

Enquiries in relation to the collision are currently ongoing and anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 96255.
