Top comedian Andy Robinson will headline when The Very Best In Stand Up returns to Nantwich Civic Hall on Friday March 2.
Robinson (pictured) is one of the finest acts working on the circuit, and has been performing comedy for 15 years.
He started in stand up comedy in the early 90s, when he played guitar in a band named ‘The Carpetsweepers,’ often leaving members of the audience in hysterics as his patter between songs gradually became longer and more entertaining than the music.
These days he is seen headlining all the major clubs in the UK, and Civic Comedy promoters have lured him back to Nantwich.
Also on the bill are two Nantwich debutants Phil Jerrod and Mark Simmons.
Jerrod began his stand-up career underneath an Angus Steakhouse in 2012.
Since then he has failed his PhD, walked out of his job in publishing and been entertaining audiences up and down the country with his elegant rants on the often unfathomable problems of modern life.
He has been nominated for the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year Award 2014, and in 2013 was a semi-finalist in So You Think You’re Funny New Act of the Year Competition and a finalist in the Amused Moose Laugh Off.
Phil has recently been opening for Romesh Ranganathan on his sold out, national tour.
Simmons is known as one of the best joke writers working in the UK.
He is a ‘one liner’ specialist who in 2013 came runner up in the prestigious Leicester Mercury comedian of the year competition.
He also reached the finals of “So you think you’re funny”, “Amused Moose Laugh off” and the “NATY award”.
He has headlined shows on the UK comedy circuit and supported Seann Walsh, Michael McIntyre and Jack Dee.
At the end of 2016, Mark starred in the BBC3 documentary ‘One for the road’, which followed he and Seann Walsh on tour in the Scottish Highlands.
Compere for the evening is Pete Otway, who has established himself quickly as a natural and original comic, known for mixing a razor sharp wit with a likeable charm and creative writing.
After made the finals of the BBC New Comedy Award in 2012, and performed at the Edinburgh Fringe as part of Just The Tonic’s prestigious Big Value Showcase in 2013.
