overturned car on A51 Reaseheath Dec 6 2017

The busy A51 near Reaseheath in Nantwich was closed today after a serious accident.

One vehicle over-turned in the incident between Reaseheath training ground and the Bluestone Lights junction at around 1pm today.

Police were forced to close the road which caused long delays for many motorists.

It’s thought only one vehicle was involved. Police say no one was seriously injured.

But it’s the latest in a long line of incidents on the stretch of single carriageway road between Nantwich and Tarporley, leading to further calls for major improvements.

It also led to further traffic problems in Nantwich, with Hospital Street roadworks causing long tailbacks at peak times up Crewe Road, Middlewich Road and London Road.

Nantwich Police said: “We hope to have the road open within the hour. Fortunately no one seriously injured.

“When trying to avoid the A51 be aware there are already delays on Hospital Street near to Morrison’s due to temporary traffic lights on the roundabout!”

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “At 13.16 officers were called to reports a collision on the A51 between Reaseheath roundabout and Bluestone Lights.

“Officers attended and found that the collision involved a grey Mercedes sprinter van was on its side. All of the occupants were out of the vehicle and were being treated by paramedics.

“As a result of the collision the road is currently closed in both directions whilst recovery work takes place at the scene.”

Reaseheath villagers have campaigned for safety measures along the A51, which is a 30mph zone through the village and past the college, and then 40mph between Reaseheath training academy and Bluestone lights.

It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

  1. You can not see any mud on the road as the van is facing the wrong way i was traveling as i am the driver

  2. I was right behind this car when it just flipped. He wasn’t speeding as the traffic was quite busy, but there did seem to be a lot of mud on the road.

    • Really!! No mud on the road in the photos.

Why do people jump to conclusions after an accident. Let’s just be grateful that nobody was seriously injured or hurt.
