A third senior officer at Cheshire East Council has been suspended.

Chief Operating Officer Peter Bates was formally suspended today by the council’s investigation and disciplinary committee looking into officer conduct.

He is the third senior officer to be suspended by the council this year.

Chief executive Mike Suarez was suspended in April on full pay, and the council’s head of legal services, Bill Norman, was suspended in July.

Cheshire East says the suspensions are a neutral act taken in the interests of the council and the individuals.

The nature of the allegations has not been revealed.

It is understood to be part of an investigation looking into the way contracts have been awarded.

In a statement today, the chairman of the investigation and disciplinary committee, said: “We would stress that suspension is a neutral act taken in the interests of both the council and the individual.

“It would be inappropriate to make any further comment at this stage.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
