A51 Bypass crash

A lorry collision which caused 16 tonnes of aubergines to spill across the A51 near Reaseheath sparked traffic chaos in Nantwich today.

Two HGVs collided on the A51 between Reaseheath and Henhull at around 2.30am, police said.

One of the trucks was transporting 16 tonnes of eggplants, and its load spilled out across the carriageway.

Police closed the road between Reaseheath roundabout and Burford traffic lights.

It emergency services almost six hours to clear the scene near Reaseheath College Zoo and recover the vehicles.

A roadsweeper was called in to clear away the remaining vegetables.

The road re-opened at around 8.30am.

But the knock-on effect caused huge tailbacks and delays on all major roads around Nantwich at peak hour.

It came just a few hours after yesterday’s M6 closure also led to gridlock in and around the town.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said no one was injured in the accident.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
