Brave South Cheshire youngster Lewis Crossley has lost his battle with a rare leukaemia disease.
The seven-year-old Stoke City fan, from Hough near Shavington, passed away at the weekend, just three months after he led his favourite team out against Arsenal.
He was diagnosed in 2015 with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.
After two years of fighting, the youngster and his family received devastating news he had relapsed in June this year.
He was taken to hospital on Wednesday night (November 1) as his parents said he was no longer comfortable at home.
But on Saturday morning (November 4), they released a statement saying: “Our beautiful Lewis passed away yesterday evening.
“His suffering is at an end. We are just so heartbroken.
“He did some lovely things in his short life but he had so much more that he wanted to do.
“He always expressed wonder at how many people supported him through Team Lewis and he knew he was loved by so many people.”
Team Lewis was a foundation created by his family to help raise funds for the youngster’s treatment and care.
They managed to raise over £30,000 in support of his treatment and charity.
The aim of the ball is to raise as much money as possible for Lewis’ chosen charity – the Joe Gilligan Trust – which aims to improve the lives of teenagers and young adults with cancer.
A special auction will be held on the night, run by Hassall Brothers Auctioneers.

A spokeswoman for Wrenbury-based TFC Supplies, who are helping organise the ball, added: “All of the team at TFC Supplies are incredibly saddened to learn of the tragic news about Lewis.
“He was an extremely courageous and special little boy. We send our heartfelt condolences, love and support to Lewis’ family and friends.”
Lewis was a dedicated Potters fan and got to live out his dream of being a match-day mascot as they played Arsenal in August.
