Historic rallyfest car races against the clock

RallyFest returned to Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire after its debut at the venue last year, writes Jonathan White.

The event provided a family-friendly full day of thrilling entertainment for visitors of all ages.

Visitors were treated to a stunning showcase of historic rally cars from many of the sport’s most exciting eras.

There was live commentary and big screen coverage, a bicycle stunt show, supercar demonstration, Supermoto display, a catering village, trade stands, plus a host of other attractions including an autograph and selfie session with the top drivers.

Tarporley-based Dayinsure – title sponsors of Dayinsure Wales Rally GB -also sponsored and organised a free Dayinsure Family Fun Village which included remote-control car racing, miniature tanks, Segways, zorbing, dart football, bouncy castles, a climbing wall, a climbing cave, bungee trampolines and a covered picnic area.

Drivers were also required to complete a 360-degree spin around the Dayinsure Donut in the middle of their run.

Wales Rally GB was the penultimate round of the FIA World Rally Championship and featured 21 stages totalling 300km (187.5miles), with the event running almost every year since 1932.

Leading drivers Sébastien Ogier, Thierry Neuville and Ott Tänak were looking to maximise their scores at a pivotal point of the season.

Stage 14 at Cholmondeley Castle was won by Neuville.

Dayinsure Wales Rally GB was won by Elfyn Evans, becoming the first Briton to win the event since 2000.

The result meant that Sébastien Ogier claimed his fifth consecutive FIA World Rally Championship title.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
