7th millfields scout group

A new Scout troop has been launched in Nantwich thanks to the success of the 7th Millfields Cubs and Beavers.

It means Nantwich now has two Scout troops to help it cope with demand for places.

7th Millfields Cubs and Beavers was launched just three years ago, but the group has proved so popular it has now expanded.

The group, based at Millfields Primary School, on Marsh Lane, has responded to the soaring demand to join the movement.

The town has only had one Scout troop, based at Davenport Avenue.

The 7th Millfields has now ensured its current Cubs and Beavers will secure a place in this section of the movement.

Scout leader Cheryl Hamlyn said: “Over the last 3 years our group has constantly grown, going from strength to strength.

“With a long waiting list to join the 38th Scout troop, it seemed a natural progression for us to start our own Scouts.”

Since September, eight Scouts have joined the 36 Cubs and 24 Beavers already at the 7th.

Another four Scouts are due to start after the October half term break.

“We are extremely lucky we have a strong and stable leadership team in each section of our group and have now received great support by more local parents to start the Scouts section,” added Cheryl.

Scouting aims to contribute to the development of young people in achieving physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials.

It also aims to help youngsters become responsible citizens and members of their local, national and international community.

In the first few weeks the 7th Scouts have been meeting, they have been involved in community activities, planting bulbs around Nantwich lake and participating in the Harvest Festival at the Nantwich Methodist Church.

Cheryl added: “Being a leader is an absolute privilege.

“Seeing the children grow in confidence and standing next to them as the take on a new challenge or experience is priceless.

“We look forward to watching our new troop grow.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
