Troy Bourne sprints for the ball with Marine midfielder James Edgar

Nantwich Town were held to a 1-1 draw by a strong Marine side in wet and windy conditions at the Weaver Stadium.

The Dabbers had taken a first half lead and looked in control despite Marine pressure.

But an error by goalkeeper Krystian Burzynski allowed the visitors to grab an equaliser midway through the second half.

Both sides had chances to claim all three points in the final 25 minutes, but a draw was a fair result.

Nantwich were coming off the back of a fine 4-1 victory away at Rushall Olympic.

And they began well, despite the tricky conditions with rain teeming down as the outer edges of Storm Aileen crept into South Cheshire.

Marine also had some dangerous moments in the Dabbers box, with Mitchley going close a couple of times.

Jamie Morgan and Jordan Davies proved a handful for the Marine defence throughout the first period.

And on 39 minutes, Davies gave the hosts a valuable lead when he slid in on the wet pitch to turn home a fine Steve Jones cross.

Burzynski was called into action early in the second period, saving well from Edgar and Mitchley as Marine looked to step up the pressure.

But then disaster struck on 66 minutes when Burzynski let the ball slide under his foot when clearing.

It let Mitchley through and he slotted into an empty net to make it 1-1.

It was harsh on the keeper who had a good game, but probably what Marine deserved on the balance of play.

Both sides pushed for a winner, Mitchley curling one wide from 25 yards going the closest.

Worsening conditions impacted on the game, and it ended 1-1 in front of just over 200 supporters braving the wild conditions.

The draw leaves the Dabbers in 10th place in Evo-Stik Premier League, and they move on to FA Cup action this Saturday in the second qualifying round away at Shepshed Dynamo.

Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
