Four people were taken to hospital after a flat fire in Nantwich which is being investigated by police.

The fire happened on James Hall Street in Nantwich at about 4.45am today (August 26).

Two fire engines attended from Crewe and one from Nantwich.

The blaze broke out in a ground floor flat on James Hall Street.

Four people inside the flat had been evacuated before the arrival of emergency services and they were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

Cheshire Fire Service crews, two wearing breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet and a large fan to put out the fire.

Crews were at the scene for two hours.

Cheshire Police were also in attendance and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
