transport festival in Audlem - An Alvis in the parade passes St James Church

Thousands of people lined the streets of Audlem near Nantwich to enjoy the 18th annual Audlem Festival of Transport, writes Jonathan White.

There was a spectacular parade of more than 300 cars, commercial vehicles, tractors, bikes, scooters and motorcycles during the event yesterday (July 30).

The vehicles assembled at Hankelow Green and left for Audlem at 11am with the parade arriving at Audlem Playing Field at 11.30am.

The vehicles stayed on Audlem Playing Field until 4.30pm.

On the car park to Audlem Playing Field there were stalls from ADAPT (Audlem and District Acting Positively for Transition) and Reaseheath College, Glen Miller music from Moonlight Serenade, a Punch & Judy show from Pinxton Puppets, and numerous refreshments stands.

A Channel 4 TV crew was filming for ‘Village of the Year’ to be broadcast later this year.

The event was free to attend and would not have been possible without the sponsorship, donations and volunteers.

Thanks were given to all the entrants, Audlem Parish Council, Cheshire East Council, along with the sponsors: Baker Wynne & Wilson, MK Preece, Reaseheath College, APHAx, Sneyd Construction, Gateway Peugeot, County Loos, Car Transplants, Adderley Garage, Audlem Electrical, Audlem Chip Shop, Blackhurst Garage, Buildbase, Bradshaws, DA Roberts, James Gorse, Lyon Griffiths, Markden Homes, Nantwich Windows, and PET Hire.

Thanks were also given to the volunteers at Hankelow, who welcomed the exhibitors, registered the vehicles and marshalled the start of the parade.

Audlem Festival of Transport was organised by the Audlem Special Events Team (ASET).

ASET is a not for profit organisation, run entirely by volunteers dedicated to making Audlem a vibrant village.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
