Jordan Davies holds off a Wrexham player

Nantwich Town notched a fine win over National League side Wrexham AFC at the Weaver Stadium.

The Reds had won their previous five pre-season matches but lost by a Jordan Davies goal to the Dabbers.

Dave Cooke fielded a number of teenagers for the Dabbers who helped them to an excellent win over their illustrious opposition by a single goal.

Nantwich took the lead through a superb Davies effort and despite constant pressure from the visitors, Cooke’s side defended heroically to win.

It was a bright start from Nantwich in front of nearly 1,000 supporters, as Aaron Hassall and Jordan Davies both came dangerously close to scoring early on.

And on 12 minutes they found the breakthrough.

Harry Clayton weaved his way through the Wrexham defence, and a short tap of the ball across the front of the box found Davies.

His right-footed shot fired into the top-left-hand corner, past the outstretched hand of Dibble and into the Wrexham net.

Jordan’s second in the last two games with this time Harry Clayton assisting rather then scoring his side kick.

Wrexham then built constant pressure but Fabien Speiss and his defenders denied the visitors time and time again.

The Dabbers broke clear on occasions after the break to pose a threat, but Cooke will be delighted with the rearguard action shown by his team.

He said after the match he was “proud to see his team, with three of the back four teenagers” play so well.

They play also away at Altrincham and Chorley before their first National League fixture, which is at home to Macclesfield Town on August 5.

It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
