Neil Shoane, killed in hit and run on A530 near Aston, Nantwich

The family of Neil Shoane, who died in an alleged fail to stop collision on the A530 near Nantwich, have paid tribute to him.

Local dad Neil, 44, was walking towards Aston from Nantwich when police believe he was hit by a passing vehicle which failed to stop.

The incident happened between 1am and 3.15am today (Sunday July 2).

He was walking in the direction of Hill Farm and the turning for Wrenbury when it happened.

Mr Shoane, from Aston, was taken to Leighton Hospital by ambulance but was pronounced dead shortly after.

In a statement, his family said: “As a family we have lost a wonderful loving dad, husband and friend.

“Neil thought the world of his young children and family meant everything to him.

“He was a sports lover and a hard worker, committed to his career and customers.

“We are devastated to be told he’s gone and we need to know why.

“Someone may know something and we urge them to do the right thing.

“We appeal to anyone who has any information to contact the Police.”

Police closed the road for most of today to allow forensic examination of the scene.

Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is urged to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 180 of 2 July.
