South Cheshire Chamber members from Crewe and Nantwich turned out in force to a new networking event with a difference.

Speed networking was staged at the Crewe Arms Hotel, one of the latest iconic businesses to join the Chamber and benefit from its profile-raising opportunities.

The interactive event, led by coach Mike Grocott of Intercog, saw groups of businesses gather round tables to share information.

After five minutes they moved on to the next to make new contacts.

Chamber events coordinator Daryl Williams said: “Networking can be one of the most powerful and productive activities an individual can do to develop business opportunities.

“The Chamber offers many networking opportunities throughout the year but we appreciate it can sometimes be a little daunting walking into a room of strangers hoping to make new contacts.

“This event provided delegates with a structured opportunity to meet as many people as possible in a fun and informal way.”

Now speed networking is to become a regular feature on the Chamber calendar after proving a big success. The next event will take place at Rookery Hall, Nantwich on October 16.

Crewe Arms Hotel sales manager Andrew Plimmer said: “We joined the Chamber a month ago and have found it to be very beneficial.

“We are keen to show people the fantastic changes that have taken place at this landmark hotel so it was great to be the venue for this new event and engage with a large group of business people.”

Delegates included representatives from a wide range of businesses including solicitors, accountants, marketing specialists, insurers, photographers, physiotherapists and charity representatives.

Des Machin, Business Development manager at Barringtons Chartered Accountants in Nantwich, said: “We’re long-standing Chamber members and found speed networking a great way to engage.”

Next on the Chamber calendar is its International Trade Forum at the Manchester Metropolitan University at 8.30am on June 21.

The forums offer support to businesses looking to trade overseas.

On June 29, the Chamber will welcome Olympian Steve Cram as guest speaker at its Business Dinner at Crewe Hall. Tickets are available.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
