Two women were left trapped in the wreckage of their car after a smash in Cholmondeley, near Nantwich.

An air ambulance was called out to the incident involved two vehicles at around 2.30pm today (June 20).

One fire engine attended from Malpas, one from Crewe and one from Whitchurch were also called to the scene.

Firefighters found the two females trapped in one of the cars on Wrenbury Road.

Crews helped paramedics cut the two casualties free from the cars.

Police closed the road for a time while an air ambulance could land to take both casualties to hospital.
