assault - man with serious injuries - police tape by jayneandd

Thieves stole the handbag of a pensioner while she visited a relative’s grave in Crewe, police have revealed.

The 72-year-old victim, from Hough near Shavington, had parked her car on Badger Avenue to visit the grave at Crewe Cemetery.

When she returned, she saw a thief breaking in to her car and stealing her bag.

The offender fled the scene when the victim challenged him.

PC Charlesworth said: “This was a heartless theft on a vulnerable elderly woman who has been left exceptionally shaken and upset by the incident.

“She was at the cemetery to pay her respects to a loved one and change the flowers on the grave – only to return to see somebody stealing her handbag from her vehicle.

“I want to trace the person responsible for this cold-hearted and malicious act.

“I would urge the public to come forward with any information they may have to help us with our investigation.”

The man is around 5ft 8in-5ft 9in tall and slim. He wore a brown baseball cap and beige jacket.

The incident happened on May 23, between 2.25-2.45pm.

Anyone with any information, which can assist officers with their enquiries, is asked to contact Cheshire police on 101 quoting incident 591 of 23 May.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
