Izzy Serventi lifeguard success

Young Nantwich swimmer Izzy Serventi is making a real splash by becoming the town’s youngest lifeguard.

Izzy, aged seven, is the youngest member of the Nantwich Neptune Lifesaving Club.

She is taking part in the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) Rookie Lifeguard programme, alongside Swim England’s Learn To Swim initiative.

The Lifeguard programme equips youngsters up to 12 with water safety skills designed to have fun safely in shallow or deep water.

It offers bronze, silver and gold award levels and fulfils the Key Stage 2 water safety elements of the National Curriculum.

Izzy said: “I’ve always enjoyed my swimming lessons but when I saw the advert for rookie lifeguard, I really wanted to jump right in.

“There’s so much to do in the water, the games and challenges are great fun, I’ve learned lots and I’ve made new friends too!”

Izzy has already passed her Rookie Lifeguard bronze award, and is over halfway through her Learn To Swim programme.

She even came first in her group at the club’s annual resuscitation and water safety competition.

Nantwich Neptune rookie lifeguard coach Julie Pearson said: “We offer numerous challenges for our club members, who age from eight to 80.

“But Izzy is an inspirational example of someone who just loves being in the water.

“She’s a joy to coach and we hope she adds to her awards and goes from strength-to-strength.”

Nantwich Neptune Lifesaving Club has been going for more than 40 years and has a history of success in national competitions.

The club runs at Nantwich Pool, Wall Lane, Nantwich every Saturday morning 8am–9am.

Affiliated with RLSS UK, club members can get involved with water safety, lifesaving skills as well as national competitions.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
