Piper Golf Society helps raise funds for MRI scanner appeal

Nantwich members of a Cheshire golf society helped raise more than £1,800 for Mid Cheshire Hospital’s MRI Scanner Appeal.

The Piper Golf Society, founded in Chester in 1983, raised funds through their season-long sponsorship.

Society Captain for 2016 Alan Dodd chose to support the appeal as it was a local cause, and many of members live in Nantwich and use the MRI Scanner.

The Piper Golf Society play six venues a year and raised the funds through each member sponsoring the Captain for the number of points he scored during the season.

Alan said: “We are very proud to have raised such a great sum over the year to be able to donate to the vital support that Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity provides.

“I would like to sincerely thank all the society members and sponsors for their very generous support, without whom we could not have achieved such a great result.”

Additional sponsors included Malbank Coaches of Nantwich, Agri-puls in Burleydam and A&R Dodd Ltd of Nantwich.

Laura Riddle, manager of Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity, said: “We are very grateful to the Piper Golf Society for all their fundraising.

“Although the MRI Scanner has been officially launched and we’ve almost reached our target, this money gets us even closer to reaching our ultimate goal.

“It is very important we reach the local business community and gain their support for fundraising initiatives.”

The charity launched its £1 million MRI Scanner Appeal to provide an additional MRI scanner at Leighton Hospital in March 2014.

The Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust bought a new MRI Scanner last year, which was unveiled by Patron, Pete Waterman in October.

Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
