Showtime - Crewe Lyceum Theatre, to stage a wedding fayre, and summer events

When the world is grey and miserable, theatre should make you smile and laughter is definitely good for the soul, writes Claire Faulkner.

I can safely say that most of the audience left the The Lyceum still laughing after watching ‘Seriously Dead’.

I know I did.

Written by Leah Bell and Crissy Rock, this musical comedy play about a deceased bank robber, a café owner and a lovesick ghost had the audience in hysterics from the very beginning until the very end.

The cast were just brilliant.

Crissy Rock played ‘Betty’, a widow grateful not to have been too close to her husband, otherwise the bus would have hit her as well!

Frazer Hines played the bank robber ‘Albert Blunderstone’, and Billy Pearce was wonderful as café owner ‘Billy Blenkinsopp.’

For me, the stars of the night were Leah Bell, who was just fantastic as ‘Thelma’, and Paul Dunn who played the undertaker, ‘Tristan De Winter.’

Both had brilliant comic timing and deserved the standing ovation the audience gave.

The musical numbers were superb, my favourites being ‘The Minute You’re Gone’, ‘Don’t Jump The Queue’, and ‘Nearer The End Than The Beginning.’

‘Seriously Dead’ is seriously funny.

It’s well written, well delivered and was enjoyed by everyone there.

Leah Bell and Crissy Rock, if you’re reading this, please come back to Crewe again soon.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
