PC puppy Axel as voted by public

A new Cheshire Police pup to be trained as the latest canine crime-fighter has been named Axel by the public.

The force asked residents to vote for a name for the furry felon-catcher.

And they were inundated with names on social media, which were whittled down to Rebel, Saxon and Axel.

Residents then voted on the three names, with the winning name earning 1,695 votes, Saxon second with 1,359 and Rebel third receiving 979 votes.

Sgt Andy Burrage, of Cheshire Police, said: “We asked you to give us a name as big as his presence as a general purpose police dog and you voted for Axel.

“This is a fitting name for a dog who will be doing everything from catching criminals to searching for missing vulnerable people.

“Thank you for taking the time to take part in naming our budding crime fighter.”

People voted on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
