funding - Brine Leas headteacher Andrew Cliffe

A Nantwich headteacher has blasted the Government after it emerged the new National Funding Formula could lead to big funding cuts for Nantwich schools.

Andrew Cliffe, headteacher at Brine Leas School, fears the NFF could see his and other Cheshire East schools thousands of pounds worse off.

And today he urged parents to voice their protest at the plans, which are now under consultation.

Mr Cliffe said: “Cheshire East is part of the F40 group which is a group of Local Authorities who are the worst funded in England.

“We receive £100 less per student than if the school was in Cheshire West.

“I had expected good news regarding the new National Funding Formula (NFF) which will apply from 2018.

“Unfortunately, I have been labouring under a misapprehension.”

Under current funding, Brine Leas receives £5.143 million a year.

But under the illustrative NFF Funding formula, the Audlem Road school would receive a cut of -2.9%.

“The government is committed to no school having a cut of more than -1.5% in any given year,” added Mr Cliffe.

“Therefore in Year 1 (2018) we will receive £75,000 less than we do now.

“Headteachers across Cheshire East are understandably incensed and are finding it difficult to understand.

“There is a consultation available, open for the next couple of months, and I would urge you to take part in it.

“In the meantime, a note to your MP would not go amiss if you feel as I do.”

Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Wonderful perception – entirely in tune with mine. He doesn’t reply to your letter – Tory central office does and Timpson just adds his letterhead

Hi. I have decided to not waste any more of my time or resources on writing to my MP Edward Timpson as he only ever responds with a standard response that toes the party line. I voted for him twice but I have come to realise that while he might make some noise locally he won’t go against the Tory Party policy, no matter how ridiculous it is. A letter to him on this subject is a waste of time. Time would be better spent working on a better candidate for the next election.
