The Novella Award is an international literary award biennially hosted between Manchester Metropolitan University Cheshire’s Department of Contemporary Arts and Liverpool John Moore’s University, partnered with Sandstone Press, Time to Read and NAWE.

The prize awards £1000 and publication with Sandstone Press for manuscripts between
20,000-40,000 words. Last year’s winner ‘The Harlequin’ by Nina Allan went onto receive
national coverage and was longlisted for the Best Novella in the Saboteur Awards 2016.

This year we will also be announcing the winner of our short story prizes – a series of awards given to a writer from a local school, a writer in our community and an MMU student writer.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
