A Willaston man killed in the A500 crash at Barthomley, has been named as 31-year-old Neil Dey.

A van and a HGV collided on the road between the M6 and the roundabout for the Shavington bypass.

Van driver Neil, from Willaston, was taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries but died later.

Today his family paid tribute.

In a statement, they said: “Neil was an outstanding young man.

“We know how much he loved Eadaoin (his fiancée), and his family.

“We know how much he was loved. We will miss him always.”

Police are now investigating the cause of the accident which occurred at about 5.37am yesterday (Monday November 7).

The driver of the HGV was taken to Leighton Hospital with injuries which are believed to be minor.

The A500 was closed at its junction with the M6 junction 16 while emergency services work at the scene and has since reopened.

Anyone with information about the collision can contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 82 of 7 November 2016.
