Hundreds of volunteers across Cheshire are lining up to help the Tour of Britain’s visit to the region run smoothly.
High-profile cyclists like Sir Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish will be racing through Nantwich and other Cheshire East towns and villages on September 6.
More than 150,000 people are expected to line the streets and watch the 111-mile leg, starting in Congleton and finishing at Knutsford’s historic Tatton Park.
It’s the first time British cycling’s premier event has visited Cheshire East in its 71 year history.
So an army of volunteers has been recruited to help visitors – and there’s still time for those who are interested to get involved.

Volunteers will be equipped with skills they need to marshal the route and help spectators.
Roles include Route Marshals, Flag Marshals, Wayfinders, Crossing Marshals and Supervisors.
Councillor David Brown, Deputy Leader of Cheshire East Council, said: “Whether it’s people from within the borough or from surrounding areas, there’s been a fantastic response to our volunteering programme to date.
“And following the success at the Olympics for Team GB, we have seen a huge amount of additional interest in this event.
“The good news is there are still places left for people who want to get involved as a volunteer and play their part in supporting what will become a legacy event for Cheshire East and the North West of England, showcasing the best of what the area has to offer to visitors from across the country and overseas.”
The race will have a potential worldwide audience of 116.5 million viewers.
One volunteer Lisa Alcock, from Crewe, said: “Thanks to our success during the Olympics, I’m even more excited about getting involved in a sporting event that has a worldwide audience.
“I’m far from an experienced cyclist but knew I wanted to be involved in a sporting first for the county.
“The event looks set to bring locals from all over the borough together and I can’t wait to take on my role and watch the action on September 6.”
All volunteers need be aged 18 years and over and will receive a certificate for taking part.
All volunteers will have to attend a two-hour training and briefing session.
