Crewe bus driver Kevin Jones and Michele who won Lotto jackpot

A South Cheshire bus driver could soon be making his final stop – after scooping a £6.1 million Lotto jackpot!

Grandad Kevin Jones, from Crewe, found out he’d won the National Lottery draw on May 18 during a rush-hour shift for D and G Buses.

Kevin, 57, told a press conference at Crewe Hall today how the win comes just years after he was left with nothing following a double break-in.

Kevin, who is married to Michele, aged 56, said: “This just doesn’t seem real. I cannot believe we have had this luck and won this incredible amount of money.

“Several years ago we had nothing. We were living in Spain and suffered two break-ins over one weekend and lost everything.

“Michele was just so frightened we drove back to England and had to start all over again.”

It forced him to work 12-hour days just to make ends meet.

“It is just amazing that this has happened,” said the former South Cheshire College student.

“To think we had nothing and were working around the clock, and now have this.

“We now can start to live the life of our dreams –  something we never believed would happen.”

Kevin told how he was stunned when he read the numbers out – but went to work the next day as normal as he still didn’t believe it.

“All I could think about at that moment was to try to stay level-headed as nothing had been officially confirmed.

“I went to bed then went into work as planned.

The next day he arrived in Newcastle-under-Lyme for his next shift when Michele called him to confirm it was true.

“It was just so much to take in. I tried to remain calm. I knew I had to drive the bus back to Crewe and look after all of my passengers.”

He said looking after Michele, his two grown-up children and five-year-old grandson, Joshua, were at the top of his priority list.

He’s also splashed out on an Everton FC season ticket for himself and his son.

He said: “We have actually seen our dream home already – something we never believed we would be able to afford. Living life to the full really does start now.”

Kevin won with lucky dip numbers 1, 3, 28, 34, 37 and 46 after buying his ticket from McColls in Hungerford Road, Crewe.

Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
