British junior kick-boxing champions from Beastmasters in Nantwich

A Nantwich kick-boxing gym is celebrating after young fighters scooped honours at the British Championships.

The Beastmasters gym, based at Regent’s Park, on London Road, took six juniors to compete at the WKU Championships in Solihull.

And they came away with three British title winners and two silver medals after competing with the best in the country.

Caleb Rowlands, aged seven, who is currently the five nations champion, was runner-up with two tough fights just missing out on a close decision.

Aaliyah Wainwright, eight, who has been training just three months and this was her first decision fight, was crowned WKU British Champion after winning two fights.

Maddie Rowlands, aged seven, who was 2015 British Champion, took silver with another brilliant performance.

Then Sam Langley, also seven, also performed superbly to be crowned WKU Britsh Champion.

Joshua Flood, aged 15, who has only been training for a week, took silver.

Zack Palmer, who has only just turned six, fought well against a more experienced junior.

Ethan Ridyard, aged 8, also had his first decision bout and took the WKU British Title.

They all train under Gemma Coast, who runs the Beastmasters Thai kick-boxing club in Nantwich.

She originally started Kick Boxing in 1997 to help lose weight.

She lost more than five stones, then progressed to Thai Boxing in Stoke and began her fighting career in 2006.

Gemma moved to Pele’s Gym in Altrincham to train with Pele Nathan and Tricia McKeary.

With more than 20 fights she has fought for various English and British titles.
