Former Nantwich Mayor Christine Farrall has joined the Nantwich Food Festival board of directors as preparations for this year’s event gather pace.
Mrs Farrall joins existing directors John Coulter and Roger Mills.
The successful team coordinates a community of volunteers who help run the festival in early September.
Last year, the three-day celebration of food and drink generated more than £2 million for the Nantwich and South Cheshire economy.
Mrs Farrall has also been appointed chair of the festival, replacing Deborah Robb who has worked to successfully raise the profile of the annual event.

Mrs Farrall said: “I feel very honoured to have been asked to chair the Food Festival.
“However, to follow Deborah will be very difficult indeed.
“But the organisation is run very professionally by a team of able volunteers, so I am in safe hands!”
This year’s event has already received more than 170 confirmed bookings, many from local food producers, including Mornflake and Cheerbrook.
Mrs Farrall served on the town council for nearly a decade.
She said: “I am a local girl who is passionate about our town prospering as a shopping and tourist centre.
“I come from three generations of shopkeepers, so I know first-hand how hard independent retailers have to work, just to keep afloat.”
Friday September 2 has been designated as a Family Day.
There will be exciting children’s activities, live music, family-friendly entertainment and a series of cooking demonstrations.
The day will also host Great British Bake-Off winner (2015) Nadiya Hussain.
She will showcase a range of dishes from her latest publications, Nadiya’s Kitchen and Bake me a Story.
Saturday September 3 will be showcasing talented, local chefs.
And on Sunday September 4, Jean-Christophe Novelli will wow crowds with his culinary expertise, giving tips on how to cook delicious healthy dishes which are simple to recreate.
There will also be traders and performers from all over the world throughout the weekend.
Nantwich Food Festival is staged across the town centre from 11am, September 2 to 4.
