A51 Bypass crash

A man was killed in a collision with a lorry on the A500 Shavington bypass.

The 20-year-old was a pedestrian when he collided with the HGV last night (May 3) at around 9.30pm.

Police and paramedics from North West Ambulance Service attended but the 20-year-old local man, who has not been named, was declared dead at the scene.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “The family of the pedestrian have been notified of the incident and are receiving specialist support from a family liaison officer, although formal ID has not yet taken place.”

The driver of the HGV was uninjured.

Cheshire Police closed the dual carriageway between Nantwich and the M6 to investigate. It re-opened at 4.30am today (May 4).

Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 1001 of 3/4/2016.
