These dramatic pictures capture the moment a car exploded and burst into flames at a hotel in Nantwich.

The fireball started on a vehicle as it drove along the driveway of Alvaston Hall Hotel, off the A530 Middlewich Road.

The driver managed to flee the vehicle before firefighters from Crewe arrived at the incident at around 11.20am yesterday (April 23).

Firefighters, one wearing breathing apparatus, used two hose reel jets to put out the fire.

They isolated the battery and damped down the surrounding area.

Just half an hour earlier, fire crews also attended a serious road accident near Nantwich.

The crash involved four vehicles on the A51 in Willaston, Nantwich.

One man had to be cut free from a car involved in the multi-vehicle collision.

Firefighters released the casualty and handed him into the care of ambulance personnel.

Police were also in attendance.
