College Welcomes New Groups Of International Students

Families in Nantwich and Crewe have been hosting students from across the globe.

More than 200 young people have travelled to the area to study at South Cheshire College for a taste of education in UK.

They have arrived from all over Europe and South East Asia arrived in March and April to experience a variety of cultural exchange programmes.

Students from Spain, Italy, Germany and Thailand enjoyed subjects offered at South Cheshire College and made the most of a chance to improve their English.

Visits to landmarks in major cities such as Liverpool, Manchester and London also helped them to gain a taste for British culture and see some of the region’s top attractions.

Local families housed the majority of students during their stays through the college’s Homestay initiative.

Host families can earn up to £115 a week for housing an international student through Homestay and many more visits from overseas students are planned in the near future.

Stelios Yalarkis, international and external funding manager at South Cheshire College, said: “We always enjoy welcoming visitors from overseas to the College and want them to have the best experience they can.

“They have all commented on the excellent facilities and teaching at South Cheshire College.

“Part of what makes the experience so worthwhile and enjoyable for the students is the kind families locally who embrace the opportunity to host these students and make them part of their family for their short stay.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Hi I live in middlewich, Cheshire and I’m considering hosting a student. I’ve done it many years ago when my children were very young, all left home now so have plenty of space. Do you cover my area?
