Willy Russell’s ‘Blood Brothers’ opened to a packed Lyceum theatre on Tuesday night, writes Claire Faulkner.

Directed by Bob Thomson and Bill Kenwright, ‘Blood Brothers’ tells the story of twins separated at birth but destined to stay together.

Wonderfully funny yet heartbreaking at the same time, this story of love, loss and superstition entranced the audience from the opening lines.

The entire production was fantastic. Technically brilliant in every way.

The cast were outstanding.

‘Mrs Johnstone’ was superbly played by Lyn Paul. Her rendition of ‘Tell Me It’s Not True’ at the end was full of emotion and the audience will remember it for a very long time.

Sean Jones was born to play the character of ‘Mickey’, he gave a wonderful performance.

Joel Benedict played ‘Eddie’ and Danielle Corlass was delightful as ‘Linda’.

Older brother ‘Sammy’ was played by Peter Washington.

Weaving in and out of the story was Kristofer Harding, giving a suitably dark performance as ‘The Narrator’.

The show received a standing ovation and three curtain calls from the audience, all of which were very much deserved.

‘Blood Brothers’ is playing at Crewe Lyceum Theatre until Saturday March 19.

Go and see it.

Even if you’ve seen the show before, you’ll learn something from this production.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
