Nantwich Singers, Shakespeare concert

Nantwich Singers will be performing a special JS Bach concert in the town on April 2.

Musical Director Alison Phillips will lead the chamber choir of 16 voices in celebrating some of Bach’s best loved choral music.

The Magnificat (and the Handel Anthem Zadoc the Priest) will be accompanied by a baroque chamber orchestra, Camerata 1685, comprising violins, viola, basso continuo, trumpets, oboes, flutes and timpani.

There will also be guest vocal soloists from the Royal Northern College of Music to share the performance.

Komm Jesu Komm is one of Bach’s 6 beautiful Motets – this one is set for unaccompanied double choir and contains some sublime passages not to be missed.

Musical director Alison Phillips is a highly regarded musician in Nantwich and far beyond.

She is a Soprano soloist, musical director of the St Mary’s Parish Church Choir and leader of Sing @St Mary’s – a junior choir for Primary school children.

The Nantwich Singers concert will be on Saturday April 2 at 7.30 pm at St Mary’s Parish Church Nantwich.

Tickets £10 available from the Church Shop after March 7.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
