Thousands of drivers are being warned of a four-day closure of the A500 between Nantwich and the M6.

The single carriageway stretch between Meremoor roundabout at Weston and junction 16 of the motorway is set to close between 7pm and 5am next week.

The closure, from Monday February 22 to Thursday February 25, is to allow highways teams to renew road markings.

Diversion signs will be in place.

Alternative routes include the following:

Via A500 from end of North slip roads at Porthill A519 to start of East slip roads At Alsager Road A0500; A500 from start of eastbound slip roads at Alsager Road to Barthomley Roundabout M6 A0500; Brereton Road A50, Coalpit Hill C0363, Congleton Road A534, Congleton Road A0034, Congleton Road South A0034, Crewe Green Link Roundabout A500, Crewe Green Roundabout, Crewe Road Roundabout A534, Haslington By-Pass A534, Haslington Roundabout A534, Inner Relief Road Roundabout A533, Knutsford Road A50, Linley Lane A5011, Liverpool Road West A50, Meremoor Roundabout A500, Newcastle Road A50, Newcastle Road A50/A533, Newcastle Road A0034, Old Mill Road A533/A534, Savoy Road Weston Road Roundabout A5020, Shavington Bypass A500, Street Lane A50, University Way A5020, Wheelock By Pass A534.

Pedestrian access to premises within the temporary closure will be open.

Vehicular access will be maintained for emergency vehicles and residents where possible.

Closure notice is in place for five days but it could be open sooner if work is completed.
