Police want car cameras in search for Nantwich pensioner Roy Tomlinson

Police are calling on Nantwich drivers with dashboard cameras to come forward in a bid to trace missing Roy Tomlinson.

Dozens of police officers and search and rescue volunteers are continuing to search for the 83-year-old, who has dementia.

He walked out of Brookfield House care home and disappeared at around 5pm last Tuesday January 26.

Police say there has been a confirmed sighting of Roy on the afternoon of Tuesday January 26 – the day he went missing – in the Wellington Road area of the town.

Now officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have a dashboard camera fitted in their vehicle – and who may have caught the pensioner on film since he went missing.

Inspector Kate Woods said: “Finding Roy remains a top priority and extensive searches are continuing in the local area.

“As our enquiries continue we are appealing for anyone who has a dashboard camera fitted to their vehicle to review any footage as they may have some vital information, which could assist with our enquiries.

“In particular, we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the Wellington Road and Shrewbridge Road area of Nantwich on the afternoon of Tuesday January 26 to review the footage and see if Roy – or anyone matching his description – is on there.

“We would also appeal to any cyclists who were in that area and have cameras fitted to their cycle helmets to review any footage.

“We would like to thank the local community for its ongoing support and urge anyone with any information, which might assist with our enquiries to come forward.”

Officers are urging local people to continue checking their gardens, sheds and any outbuildings in case the pensioner has sought shelter.

The public are being urged to remain vigilant and keep a lookout for Roy and report any information – no matter how small.

Roy is described as 5ft 10in with grey receding hair.

He was last seen wearing a grey jumper, jeans and black or brown shoes. He is not thought to have been wearing a coat.

On Friday, Richard Tomlinson and Kate Tomlinson – son and granddaughter of Roy, issued an appeal as the search for him continues.

They said: “Words cannot begin to describe how we are feeling at this incredibly difficult time. We are desperate to find Roy and every day that passes it is becoming more and more difficult.”
