Elle's Wishes Fun Run, Queens Park

Young and old braved the winter chill to take part in a Fun Run to help boost the “Elle’s Wishes” campaign for Nantwich cystic fibrosis sufferer Elle Morris.

Friends of nine-year-old Elle’s family organised the event which was held at Queens Park in Crewe.

More than 90 entrants took part in two races – an 800m run for younger children, and a one-mile run for older children and adults.

Many took part in fancy dress to brighten up the dreary, cold day.

Family and friends gathered in their hundreds at the start and finish lines to cheer people on.

Joanna Luke and Amanda Kimber, both mums at Stapeley Broad Lane School where Elle is a pupil, organised the event.

Elle, from Wrenbury, is facing a double lung transplant and when her mum Becky was told the transplant only had a 50-50 chance of success, she launched “Elle’s Wishes”.

She wanted to make Elle’s 10 wishes she wrote down for her birthday come true.

The campaign soon went viral, with stars and celebrities like Olly Murs and Rita Ora supporting it.

Joanna said: “We thought it would be really lovely to organise a fund raising event for Elle’s Wishes that the children could participate in and show their support for Elle, whilst raising money for cystic fibrosis and promoting organ donation.

“As Broad Lane has a lot of keen runners, we thought the fun run would be perfect way to do this.

“We have had fantastic support from the local community and had children participating from lots of different schools.

“The number of entrants far exceeded our expectations and we have been overwhelmed by the support.”

The event as also supported by South Cheshire Harriers running club, with members volunteering to help organise and marshal the event.

They also provided goody bags for all children on the day.

Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
