wheelie bins - Cllr Rachel Bailey, new Cheshire East Conservative Group Leader

Audlem Councillor Rachel Bailey has been elected as new leader of the Cheshire East Conservative Group.

Cllr Bailey will take over from Bunbury Cllr Michael Jones, who announced before Christmas he was stepping down as Leader, blaming in-party fighting.

Cllr Bailey beat the only other leadership candidate Cllr Janet Clowes, ward member for Wybunbury.

The new Group Leader has been a Cheshire East councillor since May 2008 and is currently Cabinet Member responsible for Children and Families.

The decision was taken at the Group’s meeting last night (January 14).

Cheshire East Council must ratify the decision of the Conservative Group and this is expected to be done at Full Council on February 25 2016.

Cllr Bailey is likely to be named as the new Leader of Cheshire East Council at this meeting.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
