Police are hoping to step up their crackdown on speeding drivers with new SID units around Nantwich.
Only one mobile Speed Indicator Display (SID) unit is currently in operation in the town.
The unit has recently been working along Birchin Lane, and officers are keen for more to be placed on key routes like Park Road and Waterlode.
PC Matt Stonier told town councillors they are looking for funding to pay for more display units.
“These are simply a visual aid to remind drivers what the speed limit is,” said PC Stonier.
“The mobile ones don’t actually record drivers’ speeds, but every bit helps.”
There is a fixed warning unit on Queens Drive in Nantwich, and a number of Community Speedwatch schemes in rural areas.
“We are looking to do more Community Speedwatch Schemes around the town,” added PC Stonier.
“There are a lot of these in rural areas, so it would be good to have them in the town centre.
“We can provide training, we just need to find volunteers around the town willing to help out.
“It’s another tool which can contribute in tackling speeding problems in Nantwich.”
