The Age UK shop in Nantwich is appealing for a local electrician as part of a new scheme.
Staff at the store on Swine Market are taking in electrical items – but they cannot be sold on without PAT testing.
Now they hope a local sparky will come forward and donate a few hours each month to help them out.
Jayne Tunstall, manager at the Age UK store, said: “We get offered some fab electricals as donations, but unfortunately I can not accept them as I need to have them PAT tested.
“I need a qualified PAT tester to volunteer for me one morning a month to help me improve sales and therefore increase the charity’s funds to improve the lives of older people.
“The idea of a PAT testing volunteer is a new venture for us at the Nantwich shop.
“We accept all kinds of small electrical donations from radios and kettles, to lamps and bread-makers.
“But we currently send all our electrical items to another shop who have a PAT testing volunteer and then these items are sold by this shop.
“This procedure has been in place for many years, however I would like items donated by the people of Nantwich available for sale in our Nantwich shop.
“If we can get a PAT testing volunteer of our own, we can make this happen.
“This will not only increase our sales but reduce the cost of transporting items for the charity.”
