Tarporley allotment holders are staging an open day in a bid to raise awareness of the threat they face.
The community allotments, established more than 40 years ago, provide space for residents to exercise and grow vegetables, fruit and flowers.
But the village’s Allotment Society say developers have plans to turn some of the site into apartments and houses.
The society has hosted activities such as shows of annual produce, and helped the primary school with their allotment patch and other competitions.
Now it has joined forces with the local bowling club and is staging an Open Day this Sunday August 23 from 1pm to 4.30pm to raise awareness.
Tarporley Allotment Society spokesman John Roberts said: “The developer intends removing over half the allotment plots which will be replaced by houses.
“The bowling green and clubhouse is to be entirely replaced by an apartment block.
“Please show your support for our treasured allotments and bowling green by attending our Open Day where more information will be available.”
Plot-holders will discuss the minutiae of fruit and vegetable growing with all comers and offer advice to prospective plot-holders.
Bowlers will demonstrate their art and will provide some tuition on the day.
Children’s events are also planned, Cheshire Wildlife Trust will be advising on insect-friendly flower gardening, and Mid-Cheshire Bee-Keepers Society will bring honey and bee knowledge.
Local Councillor Eveleigh Moore Dutton will also be attending.
