A woman has been killed and a man arrested after a horror fatal smash on the A49 at Risley, near Whitchurch.
The incident involved three vehicles – an HGV, van and a car – at about 9.30am today (August 14).
A 47-year-old woman has died as a result of the incident, and a man has also been taken to Leighton hospital with injuries.
Cheshire Police say a 45-year-old man has been arrested in relation to the collision.
He is currently being held in police custody on suspicion of death by dangerous driving.
The A49 has been closed in both directions between the A534, Wrexham Road, Risley, and the A41 Roundabout, Whitchurch, for most of the day.
Police say this has now reopened.
