An exhibition of paintings, drawings, photographs, needlework, craft, creative writing and floristry will be staged by Crewe and Nantwich branch of the University of the Third Age (U3A).

The display will be opened next Wednesday (August 12) in St Mary’s Church Hall, Church Lane, Wistaston.

Mayor of Nantwich Cllr Andrew Martin will open the exhibition at 10am and Cllr Dennis Straine-Francis, Mayor of Crewe, will arrive at 11am.

Deputy Mayor Cllr Marilyn Houston, is viewing the exhibits between midday and 1pm.

The work on show has been created by some of the 1,500 members in the Crewe and Nantwich branch.

Refreshments and information about the dozens of varied activities in the local U3A programme will be available.

Admission is free and the exhibition is open until 4pm.

Jean Scott, the organiser, said: “We hope our exhibition of the beautiful work by members of a number of different U3A groups will attract a lot of visitors.

“It’s an important showcase of what we do, how we share expertise, carry on learning, meet new friends and enjoy our retirement.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
