Primary College 2015, pupils in the lab

Youngsters from Nantwich primary schools enjoyed an action-packed week of activities at South Cheshire College.

Primary College 2015 gave 1,200 primary school children a chance to try new activities ranging from cooking and computing to falconry, photography and engineering.

The event took place at South Cheshire College’s Dane Bank Avenue campus.

A number of sporting activities were offered to pupils as part of the programme including tag rugby, football, quick cricket and athletics.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and Cheshire Police also delivered presentations and live demonstrations during the week.

Primary College, in its 21st year, brought together youngsters from 30 Crewe and Nantwich primary schools, to give them a taste of South Cheshire College at a young age.

Pupils have enjoyed taking part in all the activities which have given them a taste of college life.

St Mary’s Catholic Primary School pupil Yasmin Jones-Mellor, 11, of Crewe, said: “I’ve loved the activities especially the cookery class. It was great to visit South Cheshire College and see what it’s all about.”

Cheshire East Deputy Mayor Councillor Olivia Hunter visited Primary College to chat to pupils and take a closer look at the range of activities on offer.

On the final day, pupils were joined by Cheshire East Mayor Councillor Hilda Gaddum.

“I’d like to say thank-you to all the college and school staff, students and volunteers who have helped to make the week such a success.”

College staff, students and ex-students gave up their time to help at the showcase event and children chose different options in advance.

Primary College 2015 was sponsored by organisations including Ansa, Cheshire Fire Service, Cheshire Police, Balfour Beatty and Cheshire East Council.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
