A man who fell into a slurry pit near Nantwich has died.

The incident happened on land at a farm off Hollingreen Lane, near Audlem.

Fire crews and paramedics from Nantwich were called out to reports of a man falling into a pit at about 5.45pm last night (March 25).

The 37-year-old was taken to hospital but later died.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue said: “When they arrived they found that the man had already been pulled from the pit.

“Crews assisted paramedics in giving him CPR before he was taken to hospital.

“Sadly this has been confirmed as a fatal incident.”

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said police were called to an address on Hollingreen Lane following reports of the death of a 37-year-old local man.

“Police are not treating the death as suspicious, but the matter has been referred to the Health & Safety Executive,” he added.
