crewe and nantwich under 11s and 13s athletes celebrate medal success

Young Crewe and Nantwich athletes stormed to success against clubs across England at the annual Tom Pink Indoor Relays event.

Athletes in the under 11s and under 13s teams competed against the best in the North at the event at the England Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

And they came away with a string of medals to show for their hard work.

The under 13s girls won gold in the continuous relay, run over 1,500m, cheered on by hundreds of people in a packed crowd.

The girls (pictured below, left to right) – Hannah Whelan, Tia Campbell, Zoe Leydon, Holly Campbell and Evie Shorthose – stormed home several seconds ahead of their nearest rivals.

The under 13s girls had more success in the 3x500m relay, with three Brine Leas School pupils Zoe Leydon, Ellie Grinnell and Amelia Atkinson securing a fine bronze medal against very strong opponents.

Under 13 boys were not to be outdone and they won bronze in 3x500m thanks to Peter Selby, Sam Burgess and Shaun Jones.

They also won bronze in the continuous relay, thanks to Sam Burgess, James Puttick, James Mitchell, Shaun Jones and Daniel Joy.

Under 11 girls teams won gold and bronze in the continuous relay.

The gold-winning team of Esther Wilding, Ruby Bowie, Olivia Fowler, Meg Illingworth and Rosie Meakin stormed to victory.

The bronze-medal winners were Anna Creighton, Macy Preece, Georgia Donald, Sophie Reader and Pru Lindsey.

The under 11s girls continued that form into the over and under relay – a sprint relay which involves hurdles and tunnels.

Ether Wilding, Ruby Bowie, Rosie Meakin, and Pru Lindsey secured gold, while the B team of Anna Creighton, Meg Illingworth, Macy Preece and Olivia Fowler won bronze.

Crewe & Nantwich athletes also did the club proud in a series of field events, winning medals in the highland steps, tossing the caber, standing long jump, javelin and triple jump.

They competed against teams across the north of England from as far afield as Hull, Leeds, Sheffield, Chesterfield, Halifax and Southport.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
