A marina near Nantwich is the first to sign up to the Hope House Business Challenge for 2015.
Aqueduct Marina, in Church Minshull, has been given £50 by the children’s hospice to see how much they can make it grow during the year.
Organisers hope it will provide businesses with a challenge and help raise thousands for a service which cares for terminally ill children and families.
Hannah Penney, area fundraiser for Cheshire, said: “The 2015 Business Challenge will see just 100 organisations given £50 and challenged to grow it to as big a donation as possible.
“This is an ideal opportunity to test your ingenuity and entrepreneurship, and to build the team spirit within your work place – from cake sales to coffee mornings, Sporting Challenges to Family Fun Day.
“The Hope House fundraising team is also committed to helping you succeed, and to helping to publicise your success too.”
Aqueduct Marina’s catering and events manager Coryn Lawton, and Galley girls Sadie Hill and Holly Critchley, are among the team keen to tackle the challenge.
Staff at The Galley and Marina will be organising fundraisers throughout the year.
By turning £50 into £150 could enable a specially trained children’s nurse to help a local family look after their child at home in their final hours.
