Tribute to Shaun Spencer. killed on Mill Street

A family has paid tribute to a South Cheshire man who died after a collision with a car in Crewe.

Shaun Spencer, 28, died following a collision with a black Volkswagen Golf on Mill Street close to its junction with Union Street.

Avid Manchester United fan Shaun, who was walking at the time and is local to the area, suffered serious injuries and was taken to University Hospital of North Staffordshire.

But he died on Monday night (December 29).

In a statement, his heartbroken family said today: “Shaun had a real zest for life.

“He loved his sport and had recently taken to cycling in which he was planning to do a sponsored cycle ride from Crewe to Llandudno for St Luke’s Hospice.

“He was an avid Man Utd fan. He loved his job and his life.

“He loved his family both close and extended always taking time to chat if he bumped into them.

“He had a close circle of friends both at work and outside.

“He was always courteous and always respectful of others. He will be greatly missed by his family and close friends.”

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision, or sightings of the vehicle or pedestrian prior to the collision.

The incident happened shortly before midnight last Saturday December 27.
